Delano
Law Offices, LLC was founded by Charles H. "Chick" Delano,
III. He was admitted to practice in 1964 and began his career
working in Chicago in the counsel division for Illinois' largest
bank, Continental of Illinois, and later for two separate LaSalle
Street litigation firms. Upon returning to his hometown of Springfield,
Illinois, he worked both as an Assistant State's Attorney and
as Corporation Counsel for the City of Springfield, instituting
the city's in-house legal department.
At Delano Law Offices, LLC our
focus is presenting the best possible service to our clients.
Our attorneys and staff work as a team with clients to provide
innovative service in a cost effective manner. Calls and correspondence
are returned promptly. We pride ourselves in working to foster
long term client relationships, often representing several generations
of the same family.
The firm's traditions and prestige
are mirrored in our office facility, a historic three story brick
edifice located directly across the street from the Tinsley Building,
where Abraham Lincoln practiced law from 1843-1852, and adjacent
to magnificently restored Old State Capitol. This site was originally
the location of American House Hotel built by one of Springfield's
original three proprietors, Elijah Iles, and was described by
contemporaries as "the finest three story house west of the
Alleghenies". The American House was partially razed in 1880-1881
and Rheuna Lawerence, father of Susan Lawerence Dana and later
mayor of Springfield, built the present building on the hand fitted
fieldstone foundation of the hotel. Our building was occupied
by John Bressmer as a drygoods store unitl approximately 1921
at which time it bacame Roland's, a well known clothing retailer.
Roland's closed in the 1980's and
after over a hundred years of retail service the building sat
vacant and in ill repair until purchased by Delano Law Offices,
P.C. A full historic renovation was undertaken which included
the complete removal of the first floor facades and replacement
with something much closer to that of the turn of the century
appearance. Tourists to Lincoln's home town are often amazed to
learn that the first floor is over a hundred years newer than
the second and third floors.
Our offices are more than a piece
of living history. We are centrally located in the heart of the
financial district within easy walking distance of the Sangamon
County, U.S. District, Fourth Appellate District and Illinois
Supreme Courts where we practice. Many business deals have been
concluded in our solid cherry main conference room with its marble
fireplace. We have ample storage room for client's files and exhibits
and a fully stocked library equipped with modern computer research
facilities. Our facilities are just another tool our experienced
attorneys bring to bear to serve our clients' needs. |
